An after-school care counselor was arrested Wednesday, accused of molesting an 8-year-old student.

Coral Springs police said Michael Nathan Jones, 20, of Coral Springs, an after-school care counselor employed by After School Programs Inc. at Forest Hills Elementary School, faces one count of sexual battery on a child and two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation.

Jones is accused of having inappropriate contact with an 8-year-old girl Nov. 10.

Police said Jones molested the girl in front of another female student in a classroom.

Jones has been suspended by After School Programs Inc. Parents of students at the school also received a letter detailing the allegations.

"Our investigation has not revealed any other victims; however, it's a primary concern of ours," said Sgt. Dave Kirkland, of the Coral Springs Police Department.

After School Programs Inc., a private company, issued a statement Wednesday, saying, "It's a very unfortunate incident. We apologize. We take every measure we can to ensure this doesn't happen. This is an isolated incident."

Police encouraged parents with any other information to come forward so they can continue their investigation.
